Default Hi there......

Hiya, i'm new here, and not too sure if there's a thread section for intro's etc??

Anyhoo!!

I'm a prospective buyer of hopfully an 03 - 06 sort of shape Impreza...

I know very little about the car, and was just wondering if anyone has any tips on what can / usually does go wrong with them?

I'd be doing along the lines of about 23k + a year in the car, and need to know how reliable its going to be!

I used to have a 260+ Bhp Astra Coupe Turbo, which i'm pleased to say surprised a good few Scooby owners

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys,
Chris

Hi mate. In general subarus are very reliable motors as long as you dont neglect them. Get one with full history and get a vehicle inspection by the aa or rac.

To be honest I would not want an impreza to do 23k miles a year.
Fuel economy of these cars is pretty poor to say the least, plus you would have to service it at least twice a year.
Get a diesel for commuting and a scooby for the weekend.

Well i already have a wee Corsa 1.2 runabout, i suppose i could keep that as long as i can for the commute and share the mileage!

Thanks mate, i've heard they are reliable, and the fact that its 4wd makes it alot more appealing. The Road's to my house get rather slippery in the horrendous weather we usually have!

How much is the servicing usually?
Oil changes etc, i dont mind doing myself, or with a few mates, but if its quite expensive, then i may think again.... the other cars i've been looking at are the RX8, 350z, and another Astra Turbo... All cost similar to run and insure etc so i'll need to keep my eyes open for a good Scoob
