Ecotek Update
#1
I am still testing the Ecotek but the results so far show a 2-3 exta miles to the galleon.
This is on a P1 using 95ron+ millers octane booster.
Most of the driving has been around town with a little on motorway's.
Average is now up to 23.79 instead of 21.5.
I reckon the device will come into its own on a long motorway journey.
Anyone else had a result?

Hi folks,
Guess i've been a bit slack on this one, said i would post on previous ecotek threads but just havn't got round to it as i've been moving over the past month so havn't been online and been too busy.
Fitted the valve some months back while doing regular trips from northants to lincoln ,90 miles 80 mph odd, givin a bit of stick and cruising off boost.Usually put 27.24l in and get 120 miles, with the valve on constantly getting 150.took it of for a couple of weeks to see if it was my driving style that had changed and you really noticed how fast the fuel needle moved lower and comsumption was back to 120 ,it also felt bit rougher between gear changes and that cold surging was more noticable.
I fitted it to the bov pipe first but didn't seem to do much so moved it to the servo line which doesn't look ideal but it does its stuff.

Nice one Nige. A 10% reduction will pay for the valve in about 8/9 fill ups (around 2200 miles)! Wasn't someone talking about a Scoobynet discount with them? I can ask if no-one else has - reckon there must be at least 15 customers for this and should be worth a good discount - especially if we can help come up with an installation proposal taht they can use?

In confused here??? Nige why are you using 95 Ron and Millers?? it makes no sense as the cost of the bottle of Millers is more than the difference of filling up with SUL.
This is strange as Millers will only increase your octane levels to 0.5 MAX not 3-4 Octane as most people think.

I started using Milllers due to lack of SUL on my travels however,
Millers claim a 1.9 RON increase - 1 bottle into 10 gallons.
I recon it is slightly cheaper to use Millers than SUL for the following reasoning.
1 case (10 bottles) Millers £ 22.20+ VAT =
£ 26.09 inc. 1 bottle equates to £ 2.69 divide this by 10 gallons £ 0.27p divide this by 4.6 (believe 4.6 litres = 1 gallon
6 p per litre for millers
SUL is between 7-10p more. so it is almost the same if not slighty cheaper.
God, i hope my maths is right, never a strong point!

Paul your post is long and boring so I havent read it I know of 2 independent tests that have been carried out on Octane Combustion Machines and strangely enough Millers came last ????? I wonder why??
Seems some people want to us Octane Booster on their cars but Ive never really seen the need to if your car is setup good anyway.
Harj who has never had Detting

Iain,
Twas I who posted about a group discount.
My idea was to get Ecotek to assist in finding the ideal location for installation of their gizmo, as mentioned on their website news they have had units on test with other owners clubs, obviously it would be in their interest to assist in find the most efficient installation as this will surely lead to more sales?
NigeK: Remind us where yours is located...Oooer
Anyway I would participate in a group buy as I'm sure the joint experience of people on scoobynet would soon find the best location for the Scoob Turbo.

I'm committed (or should be ).
Either just ask everybody that is interested to add a post on here, or speak to Simon, he may be able to do something through the Scoobynet shop.
Web Master, if you are listening, what do you think?

I was considering one of these a coupla months ago...just never got round to getting one, must say tho a group purchase would rekindle my interest ...only thing is
AFAIK the valve can get clogged fairly quickly if the optional pipercross filter isnt fitted to the top of it.....
So maybe we should try for an offer on the complete package i.e Valve & filter ..
What do you reckon ?

Had a reply from Ecotek and they will sell the valve kit for £41.64 incl P&P. They just need at least 10 orders from this BBS. Send a cheque (payable to Ecotek Technologies Plc to: 8 Manor Crescent, Surbiton, Surrey KT5 8LQ, fao: Barclay. They said they would do a page on their site for the impreza if we help with a couple of installation photos.

Better than a kick in the teeth
Don't suppose they said anything about a special deal with the filter/silencer thing? I suppose we could always order them separately (extra p&p though?)
