Rob, you are right, but now I can go further on a tankful and the car seems a bit more responsive. Also, as a second car runabout, it makes me feel a bit happier I am half Scottish as well Wish I could save 10%+ on ALL my bills.

Rob,
Whats the problem with saving on the old juice bill, currently saving over £10 a tank,it's better in my pocket than the govs. You must earn too much or are not paying enough fuel tax.we cant drive it flat out all the time as some of us have to carry the little ones in it at times and therefore slow done a bit and drive like grannies

Cheers paul

Chaps,

I've received my CB-26P(thanks Barks) and fitted it yesterday, I've installed it between the DVV & Manifold using a new pipe to save hacking the original. Warmed up the engine as specified in tuning instructions but I don't get any noise from the unit even when fully opened. What noise am I listening for, should it be loud enough to be noticed, taking in mind I have a HKS Super Powerflow Induction Kit under there too.

I tried getting my ear close to the unit to listen but when the fans cut in I almost had a heart attack.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nice to see that a Thorough test is now a whole weeks driving.

Hey Simon I hope you approved the Scoobynet recommendation of this product.. Coz if you have I'll have to think about one

So does anyone have any further results of testing the device ?

Also, did anyone ever find out the implications for the warranty ?

Wink

i've just re-read this thread from the beginning and all I can say is this.

It's a wind up..

The same people are posting ( nicely spaced posts timing wise though )

They provide no substantive evidence, while encouraging others to

a. ) Purchase
b.) Post their results

So come on Iain P.... How much money have you saved with this widget????

Hard numbers please .. what was your previous weekly MPG and what is it now??

Oh and please do not plead "I've only done 50 miles since fitting it " again

Richard

Ahh.. There's Snake Oil, Coca Cola and then there's Pepsi *YUCK*

I've had mine for weeks and it has not made any difference to my mpg, probably because I have not got round to fitting it yet

I'm waiting for Subaru to sort out things at the moment, and once that is done I will fit mine, just don't want to do it at the moment, in case I get the 'its because of the Ecotek' reason.

Rest assured an impartial opinion will be posted (eventually).

I've now done about 1000 miles with the valve fitted and have been averaging 26.8 mpg which is 10% better than before. It's a shame not many people have posted their findings which may mean that alot of people have bought the valve after reading the thread but are not active BBS users. I'll certainly keep my valve fitted. As far as setting up goes, you will only hear a noise from the unit when you blip the throttle and manifold vacuum falls below normal idle vacuum.

Neil
There must be a problem if you cant hear anything when you open the valve more than a few turns. Mine did exactly what the instructions said - Open until you hear a sucking noise (quite raspy) then slowly close it until the noise just stops, then close it a further 1/4 turn. Blip the throttle and the noise re-appears only as the engine drops back to idle, whereupon it all goes quiet again. Haven`t a clue what effect it is having yet-no decent long run to check. My set up is exactly as per the 2nd photo but with the filter.

Lightbulb

I have now done over 1000mls of varied driving using the ecotek and have certainly gone past the "light foot stage".
Previously the P1 was returning 21-22mpg which has now miraculously increased to 23-24mpg.
Will be doing a run to Bristol tomorrow so I will let you know the outcome.

Hi all

I have same probs like ndouglass. With K&N 57i kit hear no noise from valve. I have it adjusted only with sensing vibrations with my fingers /btw: Do you know how you can find out if woman is horny? When you put your hand into her panties you have feeling like feeding horse /
Car run more smooth now there is not so big hole between no turbo and turbo switch. And still enough fuel

And there is reply from Ecotek for my mail:
The PiperX filter is pretty much maintenance free - perhaps cleaning it with domestic washing up liquid and hot water every 20,000 would do no harm.

Check the tuning instructions carefully as you should get a rasping noise on over-run:

Oh dear Erik, I think I can feel the first "Ecotek attributed" engine failure coming on.......
Will they become the new Superchips?

In all seriousness, this product does look interesting and I'm tempted to splash out if good results (from a wider range of testers) continue to come in.
Tell you what, if rsquire goes for one, I will too.

Neil.

OK - we'll keep the offer open till the end of February.

Hope that's ok but it was originally supposed to be a one off.

Pops and bangs comes from exhaust (SS BB and DP) so I hope it is not 1. Ecotek fail...

If you collapse the vacuum (as the Ecotek device does) you're going to get more grumble on over-run, if this is a problem buy a Lexus.

Cool

Just as a comparison, I fitted an Ecotek to my astra GSi 16v about a month ago and I'm getting aprox 2-3 mpg more around town than i did without it! Don't do much motorway driving so can't comment on that. Average mpg used to be 27-28, but is now a rock solid 30 mpg.
My car is now much more responsive.

I WILL have a scooby this year!

Part Exchange Anyone?
