Roof rails. Has anybody ever fitted them?
hello again.
Just wondered if anybody has ever fitted roof rails to their scoobs. Ive a 05 WRX saloon and Im into my MountainBiking. As roof rails dont come with the car, I was wondering if you can buy them and put them on yourself.. Or, as some sites are saying, its a dealer-only job.

I'm pretty sure you can get roof-BARS, you certainly can for the classics, they are made for Subaru by Mont-Blanc, IIRC, and once fitted are VERY strong. Once set up, on and off is a matter of minutes
I regularly carried four mtbs on mine, but you do have to remove pedals and turn handlebars with that many on board.
I bought the locking bars, and put locks on the outer two cycle carriers.

Roof rails were only ever factory-fitted to (pre-06) wagons - not sure they'd fit on a saloon (?)
You can certainly get roof bars though - not the neatest solution I've ever seen (as they clamp round the door frames) but they certainly work.
Mine with the Thule aerobars (hi-res version so you can zoom in).

You can get bars from Subaru instead. On the upside - they clamp into the roof channels, but on the downside they are more expensive, and sit extremely high.

If you're buying from roofbox.co.uk , click HERE for a 10% discount.

I have some Thule bars for mine. I initially bought them for an Audi A4 I had, but they will apparently fit the scoob with the correct foot pack. Check out SkiDrive.co.uk for the rapid fit pack , bars and foot pack, then get yourself a couple of cheap Halfords roof rack mounted bike kits for about 20 quid. Alternatively find what you need and check out Ebay

Great advice - thanks all. I'll report back when I get this sorted, first things first though - I've just realised there's NO REAR SPEAKERS - I know, I know, you don't buy these cars for their luxury and I'm 37 but jees!
thanks again..
thanks again..

Hi all,
I spent one hour today attempting to fit my Thule roof bars to my blobeye saloon but the front bars dont fit.
I wonder if anyone had picks of fitting these to newage scooby?
The front bar didn't fit but the rear bar did. i suspect the fitting kit is at fault.
I am using Thule Aero bars with #1210 fitting kit and #754 feet.
