Default Quick bit of help please

Just got back from Blackpool, through lots of flooded roads. I've have got a K&N Appollo air intake, and when speeding up to about 55/60mph the car started to cough abd splutter(drives fine other than that),is this a case of a bit of water being taken in and will it be ok?

Could be water ingress but could also be 'other' electrical components getting wet.

You could try tracing the CAI tract and see if there are any puddles in there

It's a Subaru, not a submarine

the maf sensor is a hot wire and when it cools the ecu sees that as an increase in airflow and increases fuelling etc as a result.. the water hitting it when you open the throttle will cool it below the amount of air entering the engine and it will therefore inject way too much fuel hence the coughs.. either wait for it to dry whgich maybe a while in current climate or remove maf and air filter and dry out indoors.

99% sure it is your issue

Excactly what happenned to me when I made my own cold air box around a K+N cone.

MAF was getting fasle readings as suggested by JGM and confirmed on the PFC hand commander.

Now ditched the cold air box and it hasn't happenned since, despite the bad weather.

I was going to go with the Apollo but it states its only good for 350HP so made my own bigger one. The water collected in there and it stayed damp for ages even with a drain. In the end took the filter off, dried it and then took a hairdyer to the inlet tract for 1/2 hour to evapourate the water that had also collected in the intercooler.

Just taken the filter apart, soaked inside and full of wet leaves. I've had the air hose on it and got rid of all the sh*t,hopefully leave it for a few days to dry out.
