what turbo is best to have on a sti? v5

You're asking the question a bit the wrong way round. There isn't one single "best" answer. What is best for you depends on how much power you want the thing to end up making and how much you're prepared to spend to get there.
The standard VF28 turbo is fine for up to 330bhp or a little more. If you want to go beyond that you will be looking at further supporting mods. Intercooler, fuel pump and injectors will quickly come into frame for replacement - so tell us where you want to get and the recommendations can start from that.

Md321h is great on my mates 2.2, he has 390bhp with a front mount

18G is a lovely turbo on a 2.0L
Very similar spec to the newage sti turbos!
GT35R would be a bit laggy on a 2L Very nice big turbo
Suppose a target BHP would be handy!
