If there not there then they cant be tested, however the tester may make a note on testing the car that they have been removed.

As long as you have everything for the belts removed then i would of thought you should be fine.

Think DamEscort's right mate.
As long as you don't have belts I don't believe they can fail you for it - especially if you have a harness bar which effectively reduces your ability to carry passengers in the back - plus you've removed the rear seats so it would be difficult to fail it for that!

I have had a car failed for this in the past. If you remove the rear seat belts from a car that had them fitted as standard from the factory (all cars for the last 20ish years) then you WILL fail the MOT if the rear seat is still in place, harness bar or not, however if you remove the rear bench then you are no longer required to have rear seat belts as you can't carry pessengers in the back.

Any 'freindly' MOT tester will normally ignore something like this though, in my experience.

As i said, it goes on the principal if it's not there then it cant be tested but as with every aspect of any MOT, it's all done to the testers own descresion and interpretation of the 'rules', hence, some testers can be right w*n*ers and fail you for the most stupid of things

Your right DamEscort, I'm simply backing your point up with a real life experience of failing an MOT due not not removing everything.

seat belts are only testable for seats fitted ie if you only have front seats fitted then they will check the seat belts for them and make a note on the test certificate say no rear seats fitted

you should pass mate if everything has been removed, i believe it will be tested as a van, if you get what i mean. i also dont think it matters what type of harness you have for an mot, im pretty sure there is not an option to fail a car because of the type of seat restraint. the police on the other hand if they inspected your car could do something if you had harnesses 'not for road use'

Not sure whether they would need to be 'E' marked?

This is the seatbelt requirement for any vehicle with upto 8 seats first used after march 87. copied and pasted straight from the mot testers guide.

A. Vehicles with not more than 2 rear seats; Either

i. A 3 point inertia reel belt for at least one seat; or

ii. a 3 point belt, lap belt, disabled person's belt , or

B. Vehicles with more than 2 rear seats; Either

i. A 3 point inertia reel belt on an outboard seat and a 3 point static or inertia reel belt, lap belt, disabled person's belt or child restraint for at least one other seat; or

ii. A static 3 point belt for one seat and a disabled person's belt or child restraint for at least one other seat; or

iii. A 3 point belt, lap belt, disabled person's belt or child restraint for each seat

so no seats means no belts required
