Default Which Impreza?

Hi,

I am new to ScoobyNet - looks a great site.

Don't know a lot about Impreza's apart from I want to buy one. I have my family car so this is just for kicks with a budget of £5-£7k. I'm only going to be able to do this once before fading into obscurity and old age so getting the right car is going to be critical. I have seen loads on Autotrader etc, but what would be the best one to buy - any ideas - any comments - Thanks BoxerCox

this will be the best 5-7 k you'll ever spend for that kind of money you can get a well nice scoob, try scooby clinic they sometimes have the classics in at decent money. if its just for fun i'd go for an WRX RA, STI RA. I HAD A CLASSIC SHAPE WRX RA, RUNNING AT 305 BHP FOR 4K.

Thanks for coming back - 305 BHP sounds just the job! I've got the time to travel around and check things out so Chesterfiled wouldn't be a problem.
So the car you had/have - I assume that 305 bhp in a WRX is not standard?

Try the for sale section on here mate. If its a classic shape you are after it wants to be a STI or above for that money id even try a few P1s

If you can push for it, one of these is what you want easily tunable to 400bhp and its got all the decent bits on (stronger gearbox, better brakes etc).

This gets my vote too, you cant beat the classic Type RA's brutal accelaration from the low ratio box which keeps you on boost very nice and has the stronger engine with the closed deck block, 5th injector and I/C water spray as std

The RA has been a daily driver for me for the last year and a half with no hassle there a bit too raw for some people but if you want an on road rally car this is it

The only draw back is it will only do 125mph with the ratio's set up for accelartaion.

Thanks everyone all your advice is most welcome!

This gives me a lot to think about and to look at.

I think that I want to get a car that is "sorted" from the start - some of the STI's with the PPP seem like a good idea.

What's the reliability of these cars? Are there any obvious things I should be looking for when I am buying one?

Thanks Again
