Dale Earnhardt killed at Datona 500

Can't believe what I've just read on the i-Club America Scooby board. One of NASCAR'S greatest (if not THE greatest)was killed at the weekend. It must be like when Aryton Senna was killed - unbelievable.

True, its a shame and they have lost quite a few drivers recently. I cant help thinking it going to get all 'PC' and become safety conscious which is pretty much what happened to F1 after Senna died.
Suprising that such a 'light' accident should kill him though, there was an accident earlier in the evening where a car literally took off and barrel rolled itself to pieces.

There was a tribute program on Eurosport last night. Kinda brought the whole thing home a bit more. It followed the Daytona 24hr race highlights, where the Earnharts were running a Corvette and finished 4th overall.
Hell of a loss to world motorsport.
