Default Where to buy a good type r?

I'm in the market for a STI type R..V4/5.. I'm wanting to trade my old wagon in so preferably i would like to buy from a garage.. where tho??

I'm in the north east (nr. Newcastle) but cant seem to find many specialist garages??? Was going to have a run down to Keighley trade centre, had some good ''looking'' type r's but after doing my research on here i think NOT!!! lol..

Any suggestions?? u lot are the people to ask i think

really would prefer to buy from a garage with px, cant be arsed with selling mine privately.... i work away allot!

thnx

John

Judging by the photos that's a nice looking car. Like the rims.

Bit on the pricey side though?

I take it you know all the usual things to look out for with the Types R's?

The main things are you need to get them mapped for our fuel as they originally were mapped for higher octane jap fuel.
Any mods at all even down to a simple decat exhaust system should be mapped otherwise you can experience overboosting problems.
The other issue is with the "99/00 models. The maf sensors on these are very fragile and need replaced as soon as they fail. Induction kits are not recommeded as these can cause maf failure.

All these issues can cause bottom end failure. I speak from personal experience as if I'd known this when I bought mine then I wouldn't have been out the money of a rebuild at the time.

Hope this hasn't scared you off as they're excellent cars to drive and in my opinion the 2doors are just about the best looking of the scoobs...biased no way lol!!

Bought my V4 Type R for £4500 (also had a Simtek ecu already fitted )

Try Torque GT to see what they can get
I know 2 people who've bought from them (not imprezas) and have both been happy with the purchases (a 350Z and a GTR)
