Totally disagree. If you know what your looking for on the gauge then your fine.
I had an issue last week and I thought something was up because the gauge told me so. The Fueling was playing up so got it sorted.
So how would you know this if the car still kinda felt the same with no gauge but was in fact running lean ? Could of melted or blew my engine!
Most imported gauges IMHO are...
Air/Fuel
ACT
Oil Press
Oil Temp
Boost
Knock Link
The reason I base my facts on that is because they help you get a better understanding of your engine and can also save you lots of ££££
Cheers!

I only use Innovate Wide-band to as all the other stuff is just sh1te IMHO and atleast Innovate are trust worthy and all the leading mappers use them!
They might well cost between £200 and £500 but thats cheaper than an engine.

At-least with Innovate Wide-band you have your own lmbda sensor to give you a better reading instead of sharing the other sensor that wont give you the reading your looking for as different type!
Only thing is you need to drill and a hole and weld the bung they give you in the exhaust for the lambda proper to screw into. And needs to be put towards the bottom of the down pipe onwards as to close to the turbo might give you false readings when mapping,
