the model code he gave me check out ok and it`s def got a red top engine and sti seat`s and dials but no service history so the light`s made me think as i`ve seen some wrx`s with sti`s engine`s seat`s etc. is there any one think that you can tell them apart. like having loads of srut brace`s? front and rear as i dont think my wrx had any? thanx for your help

Model code is the best way to tell. So if thats ok it should be a sti. So lights have been changed. So several reasons. No fog light on sti lights so they put uk lights in. Maybe it had some horrible lexus ones in it and they just wanted rid of them. Most important, could of been smacked up the *** and repaired on the cheap, as sti lights cost a lot more than wrx or uk ones.

i would be reluctant to buy any car without FSH... but to by a scoob with no history is a risky move imo. Cam belt changed aint that expensive on them really as there quite easy to do. STI with no history, wrong rear lights... i would walk away fella! how much is it up for if you dont mind me asking?
edit:
also with no history you not 100% on the milage of it. as i have found out first hand with scooby lumps they have a life span of around 130 to 150k if ya lucky. i have always warmed mine and not driven it hard for the first couple of miles, always on Vpower and all the other "to dos" with a scoob you should do and my bottom end is starting to rattle @132k. I knew this was going to happen soon so its not that bad for me (appart from the 3k its gonna cost for a pro re-build) with no history you dont know if it will last 5 miles or 5 years. as said, i would walk well away.

no offence to any AA workers on here, the AA will not be able to tell you nothing other than there "standerd point checks" they do... I.e mounts, bushes underneath etc. any holes in floor, sills etc. AA are NOT mechanics remember.

It wouldnt put me off aslong as I could see the car was spot on. The lights isnt really a big deal aslong as it hasnt had a rear ending, which you would be able to tell by simply pulling up the boot carpet and checking for crease marks, believe me you will be able to tell.
Aslong as it checks out as an STi and has all the visible STi parts, then your bound to be fine.
Most people that buy an Import STi know how to look after it, so you'll probably find he has serviced it himself or had a friend do it maybe.
Just check it over well and you will be fine!
