Default thinking of removing the aircon on my classic

how many other people have done this,i will be removing all of the aircon system including the matrix/aircon rad in the heater box, will also blank over the switch on the dash, one thing i wanted to know is on uk non aircon cars they only have one rad fan on the passenger side, aircon cars have two, will the other still work when the aircon is removed or am i better off taking it off,
cheers

More power (no pump to turn) and less weight to hazard a couple of guesses. Lets face it, how often do you need aircon in the UK?

I have a uk turbo and it only has one fan. I would assume that providing one of your fans is the same as the UK spec then one would be enough!!

The weight of all the gubbins is surprising.
More space in the engine bay to put catch cans or relocate the header for example.
The ability to rotate the inlet manifold.
Cash reslae value of the whole package is up to £100, always handy.

Tried to give it all away had no takers so it went to the tip

You're better off keeping it the aircon and investing in a day with Andy Walsh to learn how to drive properly.

Well if anyone else is giving away the air-con setup let me know!

I wish my wagon had air-con.

Are you air-con haters all up North or something I've had many occasions when I've cursed my car for not having air-con.

if its a track car - get it out!

Its not hard to remove any of it, and it does weigh a lot!

I removed mine and gave it away. Looks tidy with only 1 belt and mounted my catch can where the pump was.
Makes the bay look alot emptier

After having driven my car on a few journeys on really hot days, having not had aircon before, I wouldnt be without it. I also wouldnt buy another car that didnt have aircon as it makes a huge difference when you are stuck in the car in the boiling sun.

I always thought they only used a lot of power when they were actually running ? so when its off, your power would be the same. I certainly havent noticed any real difference though with it on or off !

Also, as it was so expensive originally ( was around £1000 as an optional extra IIRC ) then it is a good selling point when you get rid of the car.

You could save the same weight by taking out the spare wheel.

What I meant, and failed, was that you'd get a bigger improvement by having some driver training. I've said before and will keep saying that a driver training day is worth £500 of engine/suspension mods.

Hope that's a bit clearer
