hi guys after watching top gear last week it made me curious as to how much is in our tanks once the light comes on !
clarkson drove a jag till it said no miles left gauge was on bottom and then they drained it and reckoned they could of still done another 120 miles !!
anyone knows what litre is left once the light comes on ?????

 

i always worked on the asumption that when light comes on you have approx a gallon left though might be wrong

 

just fill car up when light comes on take that away from size of tank and you will know!!

just looked in the idiots guide and it says " 2.5 turbo models approximately 9.0 liters (2.3 US gal, 1.9 imp gal)"

i presume its the same for the 2.0 ones as well. it also says

"promptly put fuel in the tank whenever low fuel warning light comes on. Engine misfires as a result of an empty tank could cause damage to the engine

 

light on mine means 10 litres left, so between 12 and 40 miles depending on my mood....

Sadly below 5 litres my car will out accelerate the contents of the tank, not good !
