do you like the look of the hatch ? for me its not what i want from a subaru and if i was looking for a hatch i would look into a rs. performance wise the sti would be the way to go but i suppose its more down to how and where you use it.

hawk eye st every time. here is my sti ,it is a spec c only asthtetic exterior difference is the roof vent
the last of what i class as the real driver focused subaru's more focus on going fast than selling cars, lets hope the new spec c rectifies the problem.
get a nice well maintained haweye and you wont regret it

Hawkeye STi if you are choosing a standard road car but if you are looking to get a non-standard car then I would consider the Litchfield Type 20 hatchback .
Mind you I quite like the hatchback STi 330 as well.
Just do not go for the WRXS hatchback.

Nothing wrong with the WRXS, underrated car in my opinion.

Definitely no complaints with the WRXS, for around £6k less than the Sti you get virtually the same max torque output (288/290) on tap at 1000 rpm less. Very little in it performance wise when comparing the two standard cars.
When Drivers Republic tested the Ford Focus RS and 2009 Subaru Sti side by side, the guy conducting the test concluded that the WRXS, which he had tested a couple of weeks earlier, felt the better car. But then it's all about opinion.

but ... moving on from the standard car, the sti will always have a lot more potential. Will you keep the car std ? if so the WRXs will be a good bet - if there is any chance of mods then it will be much cheaper in the long run to get an sti (hawkeye or otherwise) and have all the potential and the better brakes/suspension to start with.

In terms of practicality the WRXs is a better driving position as the wheel has reach and rake, and it prob has a better aircon system an heated seats, (and cruise control??) but im pretty sure the boot is still smaller and there's less legroom in the back than the hawk sti.
And when your on your own in the hatch for a blast, you'll just be thinkin, yea this is nice, but i wonder what the sti would be like on this road
If it were me, id go the sti, for the looks, extra bit of space, and extra potential.
The wrx for on my own in traffic.

How the hell does it only have a 130mph top speed?

I had the option, could have had either but as far as I'm concerned they ruined the Impreza when they made it a hatch - not a fan at all to be honest. I pick up the above on Saturday

That's something that I've often wondered.
In that case, the car is deemed unable to pull more than 5750 rpm in 5th which is ludicrous, of course. You can add another good 15 mph to that figure.

What colour is yours Wigsworld ?
Mine is white. Bought it in June.
I'll have it remapped at around 10k miles.
Cotton Competition reckon on about 270 bhp and 312 lbft.
Prodrive could have achieved these figures first time round but would have been as quick as standard Sti.
An excellent car for £19k new.

All subjective of course, but a poll on here a little while back put the hawkeye top on looks closely followed by the classic. Or that was the rating last time I saw it. IMO that is correct. Blobeye comes third for me.
