Default Santa pod RWYB on Sunday?

I'm gonna go for the first time, anyone else going?

Can't wait, although I suspect I will grenade the gearbox and have to be flat-bedded home

Might pop along for this!

Think my brother is going up the strip, he just had his headgasket problem fixed, and got a new ecu fitted!!!!

His previous best is a 13.00@106mph in his Version 4 STi wagon with a full decat and filter, so hoping it will be in the 12s now with a new ecu and a front mount intercooler!!!

Im thinking about it, not been up the strip before as I believe it is a real car killer.

What sort of rpm do you use from the start at the pod? my launch control is set at 5400 and gives about the right balance on the road. Do I need to lower it, or turn it off and use revs/slip clutch rather than launch and step off clutch?.

Really fancy a go, but dont really want a new gearbox this week.

Cheers Phil. Printed pass and just trying to arrange to join in a convoy from the Midlands.

The Pod will have to wait for another time to claim my car as one of its victims !!!.

Right, just back from this... Didn't get the super times I had been hoping for

Best time today was a 13.57 / 103.3 - seems awfully slow

Stats for that run are:

reaction: +0.7928
60ft: 2.0692
1/8: 8.7922/82.28
1/4: 13.5667/103.30

So, now for the excuses:

Now, the 60ft I can understand, as this is the first time ever dragracing, but the car didn't feel like it performed at its best at all... Felt flat through 2nd and 3rd gear, so not too impressed with the trap speed at all..

How much does heat soak affect performance? On the road, the engine feels a lot perkier, so I'm guessing the intercooler got totally heat soaked whilst lining up? I was pushing the car with the bonnet open etc from run 2 onwards, but then you still have to sit in the line with engine running / bonnet closed for good two minutes at least before it's your go, so it would become totally heatsoaked by then, right?

Car is a blob WRX with a td05-20g and STI intercooler (incl undertray). Running roughly 11% E85 mix... Is that trap speed realistic with this turbo/intercooler combo? It was mapped back in November and put down 391/392 on JGM's delta dash... Looking at other trap speeds, it seems to be running around 300bhp at the strip - can heat soak really be that bad? Almost got my **** whooped by an E36 M3 - just pipped it at 13.68/103.29 vs 13.88/101.28 - what's going on?

Is it the extra weight? I've got a stereo which realistically adds about 40-50kg including the amps etc, and I'm about 105kg myself (less kebabs required before next time, then...)

Henrik, here my best time at santapod a fortnight ago.
reaction-.566
60ft-2.139
1/8mile-8.90 @82.14mph
1/4mile- 13.74@101.51

I've wrx 2.5 conversion VF34 running 336bhp/376lbsft. The turbo is shortfalling on my set-up.
Heatsoak wasn't a problem for me cos I took some iced water with me and was able to spray up on to the tmic.
I just felt the track temperatures did it, the day was much like today and there was a lot of hot air swirling around on the track.
I think on a cold day you would find the car pulling a lot harder in the 2nd half.
Weight does make a big difference, I had 40litres fuel and the picnic hamper in the back

Hi all. Not long got in from pod today. saw a couple of other scoobys there but wasnt sure who was who. I was in the white STI 3 with black Pro race alloys. Had a not too bad day, think i have probably hit the limit of a standard car with these figures but here you go:

Reaction: 0.5761
60ft: 1.985
1/8 Mile: 8.389 @ 87.53mph
1/4 Mile: 12.879 @ 107.89mph

Car is standard bar HKS Filter and 3" Exhaust so not bad results by all accounts

Thats a good time shifty for a near stock car. I think it was you I was talking to. I have the red newage.

Best time I got today was a 13.9.

Times werent that fast today mainly due to the warm temperatures I think.
I did a 13.6 a couple of months ago in cooler temperatures with the exact same set up so it shows what an effect the heat has.
