Default What classic can I get for 4K these days?

Looking to get back into scooby ownership. Been out for nearly 18 months now.

Ideally looking for a decent, low mileage uk turbo with a recent rebuild. Is it possible for around 4k?

Don't want anything too 'stiff' (ooh er mrs) as the wife and I are starting a family soon. As long as I can get a nice 1999/2000 uk turbo for that money, with less than 70k, I'll be a happy man!

Helped a friend buy a MY99 UK 2 years ago with around 70k on the clock, under £4k.

I'd rather look for one without a rebuild.

Check the usual place like FS section, Pistonheads and Autotrader.

why do say look for one without a rebuild, considering the cost of one?

Same here, STi3/4 for that money maybe? The only reason I put up with Chris' moaning is because he showed me the way with red UK classics. Certainly wouldn't get near £6k for one now unless it was somthing very special. Have no idea who's got my old one now, last owners just sold it - gone forever

Chris, get a red 'un, for me

Haha. I know, I can't believe I sold my old classic for £6800 18 months ago!

I am tempted by the sti's (have had two already, v3 and v4), but I just loved how well the uk turbo suited our roads. If I can find a mint sti with a rebuilt engine for 4k, I'll bite the owners arms off!

Mint uk turbos are getting rarer all the time. And as they are so cheap at the moment, I just must have one!

The only colours I don't want are silver and yellow! Red ones seem a little bit rarer though.

Ideal spec would be pretty much the same as what I had before:

MY99/00
tek2/tek3 map
decat
eibach (sp) springs

and thats about it.

Its got a diff wheel - it shouldn't have a diff wheel.

It also has the DCCD lights on the dash. Someone must have fitted DCCD to it??? Never seens a factory black STI with DCCD.

The RB5 has 126,000 miles on it! A little too high, but nice looking example.

I sold my03 STi uk with 346bhp 63000 miles on in black for £6350 in November last year.. Before you say anything it was a family SOS and needed it sold very quick ... I put it on pistonheads at 5.30am had my 1st phone call at 6.45am and the 2 lads drove from cardiff to birmingham to collect it by 11.30am !!

My advise is keep searching ebay and pistonheads day and night for new adverts if your really want a good one and you might just catch someone else who has a family emergency and needs a very quick sale...

I almost burst into tears when they drove off !! oh well ..lol
