Just ordered a new Prodrive Sti. Got 15k for my 99MY plus dealer will pay for 36 month service on my car. If I'd imported Id have got about 12k for mine. Thats 3k less plus about £500 for the service.

I was thinking that - £15k for a 3 year old impreza from a dealer who will sell them at £21.5k - very good deal if it did happen but I wouldnt have thought so in this present 2nd market.

Matt,simple really.
New car: £27500
My car : -£15000
= £12500 to pay
Cost of service + underbody is approx £500 I think.
Dealer willpay for this.
Looking on For sale section 99s are selling for about 12K. So not a bad deal.
No doubt others will think differently though.

Not wanting to hijack your thread, but it is kinda related.... prices/imports etc.
What price would you expect a dealer ex-demo STI UK Prodrive to be? I noticed a dealer offering theirs soon for about £1,000 cheaper than list.
I am interested in getting a STI at the moment and as I will be keeping my next car for at least 3 years I am tempted by an import as the price differential on sale/trade-in will have narrowed by that point.
I would consider an ex demo, but shouldn't the depreciation be a bit greater than than £1,000!
Anyone got experience of buying an ex demonstrator - prices/condition/problems etc???
Cheers
Richard

Imports still sound cheaper to me. If you can import an STI for £22K and sell your car for £12,000 privately, then it means the car will only cost you £10,000 plus the cost of the 36k service (£500). That still makes you £1500 better off if you buy an import?!

So what is the difference between an import UK Spec STI and an official STI, as I see it the only difference is the Tracker which is what £700 and the warranty - is there anything else?
Any idea what the depreication will be like on an imported UK STI after 3 years?

Martin,
Where have you seen Prodrive Sti for 22k. I havent.
Richard,
Tracker worth about £700. Warranty must be about £500+
Narrows the gap even more.
At the end of the day its down towhat each individual wants to do.
I was just trying to point out that the gap is not about 5.5k like some have mentioned. Travel, ferries etc also have to be taken into account which all bump up the cost.

Clearly depends on what you've got to trade in then, and what the dealer will give you for it. 15k for a 3 year old car sounds fantastic.
But if you don't have such a car/dealer then importing will indeed save you circa 5-6k. In your case you got a fantastic deal and get an official UK car with 3 year warranty.

Hi guys
Litchfields supply a different animal its not the jap spec 280bhp its the UK version without the UK badge. £23,500 for the non pro drive. They also add aftermarket alarm, imobiliser, warranty and trackstar. The fact they had one in 4 weeks made the sale for me.
Mike
Do you guys have the non wavy 3 gauge pod for the wrx yet.

Myself and a few others have bought our STi's from S&S Services in Ayr. Speak to John Spicer on 01292 880080 and tell him I sent you.
He has given myself and a few others good trade-in values for our existing cars (higher than a few others I tried), as well as very good finance deals (4%).
It was a 3 hour drive for myself to get to Ayr, but it was well worth the effort I can strongly recommend you give John a call if you are interested in a UK STi.
