Default what would be quicker?

Next month i was looking to get an evo6. But i was browsing pistonheads before and noticed a couple of very clean uk turbos, The question is. How much would i need to spend on the impreza to make it as quick?

I'd suggest you go for a Type R or P1 mate. You'll have the sort of power you're after straight out of the box.

Bit of a vague question.

What's your budget and what type of Evo?

Looking to spend about 7500 next month. It was a choice between evo5 and 6. But the thought of a mint uk turbo crossed my mind plus cash to modify it. Theres some really nice examples out there. I had looked into the type r, but it seems hard to find a good one.

Forget the type R's unless you want a type R. Just stick at an STI.

Peronally with 7.5k id probably go for the evo 5/6.

Also depends what you mean buy quicker. Corners, fun, easiness to drive and quicker on real roads or straight line..

7.5 k im sure would buy you a 350+ highly modified classic...?

Thing is with the Evo's is that you have to push them to get the best out of them, Otherwise they can feel almost mondane ..

Yes they are quicker than a standard scoob & handle really well when pushed if the Active Yaw is in good fettle..

The scoob on the other hand gives you a smile at any speed

Just depends what your after ..

Thats not a bad shout...any STI is a good bet for decent power.

Point taken about the normal sti, def cheaper than the type r and similar performance i guess? My next car is going to be a second car. Used a few days a week and the odd track day. My last car. evo7, was great but it annoyed me using it day in, day out. Hence why im using my next as a second car. If i go for another impreza(ive had three, lol) it will be a classic, that much i know. The one thing that keeps me coming back to impreza is the noise, its addictive, although my 7 did sound nice.

Sorry !

But buy an ev* for £6500 and swap the crank/rods to get a 2.3 which will kill a 400 bhp new-age STI....

Rich, my mate has just done this, and even pre-map it was awesome, now has a 9GT turbo on and isn't far short of 500 bhp, all for pennies....

Sadly,

Weekend/show car, driven hard but he's easy on the mechanicals....

He took four years to break his Pulsar box, including drag strip action !

4 years to break a Pulsar box :O Im well impressed..

I was going to buy an evo 6 but i hated the intereriors and they were really old, so bought a 53 plate blobeye. Yeah its slower blah blah but its comfy and quite and still has a bit of performance. The evo was just toooo easy to drive on the test drive.
