Hawkeye STI or older version?

Hawkeye STI or older version?
I currently looking to purchase an STI however I dont know which one to go for, the newer Hawkeye or the STI shape previous to it.
I like the look of both and hopefully will eventually find a low milage example
Any comments would be appriciated as Ive only driven the Hawkeye... I know its a case of personal preference but was wondering if either had any advantages over one another etc thanks.

Its down to what you like really, but if I was looking for an sti I would go for a 2005 blobeye with the wider track and dccd, the interior is slightly better and I like the blobeyes. Also I think I would rather have a 2.0 litre. Also if you want a hawkeye get a 55 plate one as they are still on the cheaper tax as in my opinion a car that is £200 cheaper to tax would be easier to sell on in the future as people will be looking to save money especially as the car gets cheaper to buy.

An Idea of your budget would help us give advice mate, imo Hawkeye stis are the best looking Impreza with the RB320 the best out the lot. But you won't be dissapointed with either, also consider Jdm models as most are better spec than Uk models.

Some good points there... Didnt really want to go much past 17k for a Hawkeye... Happy to spend up to 14k on the older version.
Car will be used mainly as a second car
Wanted something low milage so its hopefully more reliable

So the roadtax is is a downside to the hawkeye apart from that, sounds like there both good cars
Will just have to drive the older version then and see which feels the best

If you can't afford the road tax every year then fair enough, but is £4 a week going to stop you driving the car you want? No one wants to or likes paying the scumbags an extra £200, if you don't somwone else will so they will still get their money.
mines only £215 and i put £5 a week into a change jar, not because i cant afford it but because you don't really miss it, come renewal i've got loads of change to put on the post office counter and it doesn't make a mark on my bank account.
If i go onto another scoob from here it will be an RB320 or an Spec C RA.

As above mate look out for a RB320 better suspension than the normal sti along with better interior so need to mod.
One thing to look out for when buying is noisy rear shocks they fail a lot which are very costly to replace.
