Trailering an impreza
after a few basics really...
What sort of vehicle would be suitable to pull a car trailer (full on car trailer) with a car weighing about as much as a calssic impreza on?
4x4? Van? Small van?
do you need any specific license requirements to pull a trailer?

Yep j@ is right, the tow car by law has to be heavier than wot its towing.Think about it,if you have to brake hard and the load is heavier then its just going to push you straight up the **** of the vehicle in font of you.You don't need any special license.

You may need to check your licence, AFAIK someone your age will need to pass a test, category (B+E). Then there is insurance to sort as well.
Or PM corradoboy and ask him...

yep after 1997 that your not covered to trailer on your license i know i cant without passing a further test....
taken from DVLA...
Car licences obtained on or after 1 January 1997
If you passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 you're limited to vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes maximum authorised mass towing a trailer up to 750kgs, or a vehicle and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes MAM providing the MAM of the trailer doesn't exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle. You will need to pass an additional driving test in B+E if you wish to tow a caravan or trailer combination which exceeds these weight limits.

General consensus is that the weight being towed (inc trailer) must not exceed 85% of the unladen weight of the vehicle doing the towing.
That is a recognised safe limit, anything over that and you are in dangerous waters..
This week I saw a guy towing a Jaguar X type on a trailer and his tow car was a honda CRV

85% isnt bad advice, but the law is interested in the weights listed on the vehicle's identity plate. There is absolutely no way that an Impreza can be legally towed by another Impreza (think: the weight of the car plus the weight of the trailer).
