1/4 Mile rivals, check out the Impreza positions and times
#4
Copied straight out of Autocar complete with misprints (new WRX 1/4 mile times) and suspect Evo times. Funny how they tested a std VI faster than subsequent tests on more powerful RS and Extreme?

Just looking at all the cars under a standard impreza turbo Was quite surprised, didnt realise a ferrari testarossa was that slow, oh and a 348GTS Also its stating the phase1 engine of BHP 208, not 215 of the phase2.
I think the guy who made it is biased thou, hes got a WRX listed
below a standard turbo heh Actually alot of their figures are very suspect, e.g escort cosworth 0-60 in 6.2secs? I think not, its more like 5.5secs isnt it?

So my T5 is quicker than a T5R, cool !
And only a second slower over a quarter mile than and Impreza Turbo, Personally I think as stated earlier that the Impreza Turbo time is a bit optimistic considering the real hard core stuff in the list that is supposedly slower!

What you need to bear in mind is that the figures are for press fleet cars, the jap companies are known for putting tweaked cars out when they are up for speed testing. I remember an issue of Car magazine where they put an RS4 against an allegedly std UK spec R34, they bothe weigh the same the RS4 has 375bhp and an R34 has 276(!), guess which one was the fastest down the 1/4 by over a second, (hint: it wasn't built in Germany!).

I think the impreza 0-60 is pretty much spot on, read the SIDC faq, and u will see most journalists whilst testing a UK turbo managed 5secs or 5.5secs with a passenger and full tank of fuel. Subarus figures are conservative to say the least. Ive done crude tests in a MY99 just with a stopwatch, and it always around the 5second mark.
