Default Peculiar tyre wear - any ideas?

My friend has a classic WRX 2000MY and has noticed some peculiar tyre wear on the front tyres.

The very outer edges are worn, the rest of the tyre is fine.

This happened with the previosu set and the garage said it was down to the alignment being out. Trouble is it has hapepned to the new set after the alignment was checked and has been back in again for the alignment to be looked at, but it is fine.

The garage are a respected Subaru and rally car specialist so know their stuff but they are currently a bit bemused by the issue.

The car is lowered but not enough to cause rubbing and you would hear that anyway.

Could it be steering geometry i.e. alignment OK when wheels in dead ahead position, but not when turned?

Anyone got any ideas?

Tyre pressure all normal btw.

I will ask. Two different tyre types.

One lot was Yokohama 215/40 17's but will need to ask to find out full details.

Sounds like too much front axle toe in? that or your mate has been going into round abouts way too fast.

I get this on my STI with the Bridgestone RE070,s.
I change the backs to the fronts at about 5000 miles and manage to get about 12000 miles from them in total.
I have also had the aliment checked and its spot on

Had the same thing on my 03 wrx.
Ive since had the toe put to 0 , hopefully this will help it.
If its really bad maybe you need to put more negative camber as well.

Its not really bad just a little annoying as I could properly get a bit more life from the tyres Im not to sure what sort of mileage you should be getting from the RE070,s
I didn't think you can adjust the camber on standard STI set up
