WRX hmmmm

...hmmmmm not impressed.
Got a MY00 and finally got round to having a little spin in a MY01. Thought it had none of the character of MY00 and the additional comfort/trim level is not worth buying on what is an ugly car.
Anyway, main reason for post is to comment on the terrible sales person at Triangle in Chesterfield. Totally un-interested in selling the car - didn't say a word basically. God knows how they manage to sell anything!
Anyone else suffered like this?
They did have a couple of nice pro-drived STI's though....

...they are ugly, agreed, but with obvious advantages of standard WRX.
Particularly wasn't keen on the picnic table they'd put on top of the boot. Watch out for Yogi....

Sooner or later, someone's gonna hafta drag you lot kickin n screamin into the 21st century.
Failure to do this could result in the new breed of MGB style enthusiasts. You'll all be spendin yer Sundays replacin bottom ball joints and anti-rollbar bushes tryin to keep yer Medieval Scoobies alive
The gauntlet has been thrown down...

Strange. I used to have a MY00, and I got an opportunity to drive the new WRX around castle Coombe circuit (with instructor). The WRX handled much nicer than my MY00, and I felt a lot more confident driving it through the twisty bits. Although, it didn't feel quite as quick in a straight line. I've since upgraded to the new PD STi, and am really looking forward to taking it onto the track.
Btw, personally I prefer the new bug-eye look of my STi, (and the muh improved build quality). The old model was a classic, but I'm afraid IMO it's beginning to look a little dated

Thought it had none of the character of MY00 and the additional comfort/trim level is not worth buying on what is an ugly car.
But as more and more of the MY01 come on the roads, the older ones look more and more dated.
And I really like the fact that the interior is considerably nicer... It looks nicer, it doesn't rattle. At the end of the day, I sit IN my car, and drive it, rather than stand outside looking at it.
I personally, and I'm sure most MY01 owners get fed up of people saying the MY01 is fugly.
You'd all winge if we said the <= MY00 was fugly, wouldn't you?

Saw a couple of PDI'd Sti's waiting for delivery at my local dealer on Saturday and have to say they look to me the best looking Impreza to date.
So there............
Think I might give in to temptation and order one very soon.

I agree with Navigator...
"get out more guys.drive'em don't bitch about what looks better lifes too short"
We should all be happy, simply due to the fact that we can all afford a powerful sports car. There are loads of people out there who would love to bug any car.

To Nowucme: Look at the thread WRXBOB, say`s it all methinks. As a new owner, yes I agree on the spoiler, not too keen myself, but IMHO I think it`s going to take some beating for the £16,600 it cost me, thats all in, all tax`s, delivery, vat, I suppose I could have had a Mondao for that money, but I think not! each to his own,

A new STI still hasnt got the power to weight of my standard (ish) MY00 WRX RA. So I guess will wait for a super light and powerful MY03 . Yep MY00 wont win an beauty contests but Emily loves him . It does however have a nice chrome MY01 WRX badge on the back

I must admit that I love the shape of my MY02, I had a 'old' shape before that and I like them both. Which is better? Neither, they are just different and have their own pros and cons.
The interior fit is definitly better on the new car but I'd say that some of the design choices were incorrect at time of inception, the bug eyes and spoiler spring to mind. There is something about the grille on the old shape, very Aston Martin'esque and always angry, that's what made it what it is.
I find that I feel more 'at home' in the new car than the old one and it does handle better. Looks are completely subjective and what one will like everyone else will not.
They are both classic designs and will go down in motoring history as such, enjoy them both as there is unlikely to be a better car IMHO.
My car makes me smile and I've never had that in any car I've owned previously.

So was I - u mean the STi metal blanking plates with 4 screws on em?
True Jza - I didnt like em and tbh still think they look bland in stock form. However with some decent wheels, exhaust, headlights and rear spoiler it looks the business and looks a lot better in the flesh than it does in any pics Ive seen. I test drove one today after deciding not to go down the P1 route and was very impressed with the interior for one, anyone who says BMWs are excellent inside is talking **** unless u get to M3 level - my mate just bought a 330 Ci Sport and it has a little brushed black chrome look over the dash and thats it. The only cars that stand out in the interior department are Audis (at this budget) and that isnt a big enough factor on my choice of car at this moment in time.
If I can be converted anyone can
