Average price is about 800-1k, you should get them skimmed also which may be included in that price as its an engine out job

Just dont know how you can do a subaru head gasket for 300+ parts, had a mates cousin do my pug S16 for 350 inc parts and he only charged my 15 an hour labour (included a skim) and that didn't need the engine removing and splitting in 2, then skimming (both heads) 2 new gaskets and putting back together, then engine back in the car (you can see why its expensive due to the intensity of the job).

Did that include both heads skimmed though or are you just hoping they didnt warp?

Tony,
£300 for a days labour is pretty good if you have little/no overheads, which I would suggest that someone that is charging that kind of cash does not have much of.

How much do you earn a day?

Shaun, I agree 300 is good with little/no overheads, but it would be the heads im worried about chances are they will need skimming, and that wont be a cheap job as most people dont have the equipment on site to do so and have to send them off to be done (at the cost of the engineering co's much more expensive hourly rate!) hence for 300 quid im wondering just how well these jobs are being done?

Yip both heads were skimmed and £350 is what i actually pay'd. I brought the gaskit set myself for about £60 i think it was. The only other thing was i had to take it 50miles to get it done.

The guy done it in his spare time at his home.

And yes it was a proper job, i know the guy well, and i can say the car is 100% better now

Tony,
Head skimming does not cost a fat lot. I had ALL my machining work, heads skimmed, block decked, bores honed and block line bored for a little over £150. In comparison, head skimming on it's own is childs play.
