Default Could someone help with a couple of questions?

Im looking to buy my first suburu and ive come across 2 i really like, which are:

Subaru : Stunning STI. +
Subaru : Subaru Impreza STI PPP (Hawkeye) UK CAR

Now i really like both but I just want to ask a few questions.

1. Are the prices of those cars about right?
2. I know its personal choice but is there a better color to go for, i mean a more popular one that will sell on easier.
3. Also the first is up for £11,500, would it be cheaky to go in and offer 10k considering the market.

Thanks for the help.

If it helps you decide, the second one (silver Hawkeye) is sold and in the new owners possession.

The black Blobeye looks a very nice car, but I'd need to know exactly what he's done to get 318bhp. Also, find out more about the adjustable coilovers (what make, who fitted, when (miles/date)). Black is a biatch to keep clean, but beautiful for the few minutes it is clean Black also sells very well in my experience. FWIW, I think it's overpriced in the current market and would offer him £9k as an opener, but go no higher than £10k.

Thanks for that mate, im going to have to talk to him over the phone about it because im down in south wales and he is up in cumbria.

With the coilovers is there a certain manufacturer of the coilovers i should avoid, and would it be ok if he says a local garage fitted them or would it be better if a specialised subury garage fitted them

Am i right in saying the PPP kist it has will take it to 305bhp?

If you don't know Scoobies then you might want to do a bit more homework as it's a bit of a nightmare !!

I live in Cumbria and don't recognise the black car, this isn't a problem as there are a lot of them about but the wheels are not standard and there is a non-standard front strut brace.

The Hawkeye in silver would seem a much better buy IMHO

If you are worried about residual values and colour then buying an impreza is not for you.

I'd look at the for sale sections here and SIDC and your local scooby club for advice

Im not really concerned as to the residual value really but just a general question just in case I do sell it
I know how much they cost to run and insure and am aware of the servicing costs/petrol etc.
Is there anymore need to know/look out for before I go to look at one.

Like you said the strut brace is non standard, would be a good idea again to ask where/when this was fitted? I have contacted the owner and he says he has a file of everything including services/mot's/and what's been done to it.

Yeah, PPP gives around 305 (or less ) so he may have done a little more work. Quality coilovers from AST, Tein and BC are worthy of consideration. It would be worth looking to see if he's allied them to some other chassis mods such as uprated ARB's, links, adjustable tie-rods etc. If you drive a car hard (ie 3 figure corner entry speeds or regular track sessions) then you will have a massive benefit from them, but for many averagely quick road drivers they are wasted IMHO. Almost everyone I know who's fitted adjustable suspension has never adjusted it since the day it was fitted

It might be worth asking if a knowledgeable member of the Cumbrian Scoobs could make themselves available for the price of a pint/lunch if you were to travel to view It does look a good car though with hints to an enthusiastic owner. The 'SBY' plate, flaps, rear diffuser are tasteful but subtle mods which makes me think they are mature and respectable, and I'd fully expect anyone going to the trouble of fitting coilovers to start adding further chassis strengthening such as the front upper strut-brace. It looks a good car IMHO.

thanks for the reply mate, yeh i will ask him all the questions that you have mentioned here. I really like the look of it, looks a lot better than other I have seen on there.
Im going to give him a ring on monday and agree a time/place to look at it and see if i can pre-arrange a price over the phone, and also ask him the various questions yuo mentioned.

Hopefully in a few weeks I will be posting pics of my new purchase

Well the car i wanted was sold, and he was actually offered 11,200 for it.

Anyway, the search continues. The only one I have seen that catches my eye is this one: Subaru : REDUCED WRX STi TYPE UK PPP.
Again its a 2005 STI with PPP and aftermarket 19" alloys.

Does this look a decent car from the photos?

Also because the number plate is personalised and wont be sold with the car. Would it cost me to put another one on? or can he put the old plates back on and notify the dvla (as u can tell i dont have a clue on this subject).

Also, if i go to look at the car, should i go in with an offer similar to the 9k i was told to offer for the other car?
