Default advice please- house paint all over car??

Hi guys as the title suggests a friend of mine has just returned home to find his vw golf covered in specs of white paint. The car was parked on the road outside the neighbours house and they have obviously had the outside of the house painted white and have somehow managed to get paint on the car. Any ideas on what we can use to remove the paint without causing damage to the paintwork. Any info would be appreciated.

worst case i'd try white spirit(not to much though)spot by spot
or some autoglym tar and glue remover

but car will need a good polish once done........

Depends what paint it is, If its water based then you may be able to remove it with warm water and elboy grease, If its solvent based its a different matter,

I wouldnt use white spirit it could take the top layer of paint off and soften the rest, Being in the bodyshop trade i would try a degreaser from a motor factor, ( not engine degreaser, Bodyshop degreaser.) with a soft lint or cotton cloth,

A good polish would be needed afterwards as both tar and glue remover and degreaser will dull the paintwork,

If the above doesnt work then your next step would be a "fade out thinners" once again, available at bodyshop factors, Its not as harsh as cellulose thinners but can still damage the paintwork if left on there too long, best to wipe on with one cloth and wipe off with another,

Hope that helps

That's what I would do. It wouldn't have taken them much to let him know that they were painting the house and he might want to move his car up wind

First port of call would be to clay the car. This would more than likely work very easily if we are dealing with specs of paint.

I'm a professional detailer and I've encountered this with three cars I treated (paint specs where a car was parked next to a construction site) and claying removed the paint specs with ease.
