I'd go with the sti as it will tune to more power with far far less expsence and will handle far better than the P1. The P1 is a nice car but very dated now?

JDM blob STI a damn good car, lots of torque and handles great plus more practical love the P1/Type R but if i had the money (well i would keep the type R) another JDM STI would end up on my drive

Agree with Tony & Steve on this one, no-brainer for me, more tunable, better/stronger transmission, better car...Lol...

My next car maybe as the TYPE-R left my house today....

if you are after raw driving experience the p1 is far better in my opinion the sti v9 is alot more refined and is easy to live with

Horses for courses really...... looking back a couple of years I'd step out of the back door at work and in the car park there was a P1 and my modded (and much faster bugeye).... !

Back then I'd open the door of my bugeye but not sure what I'd do now LOL

depends what you want mate, in my view they are two completely different cars giving to different driving experiances best thing to do is go a test drive the two even better if you can get them back to back and decide for youself as you wil get mixed opinions from other people and it is you who has to live with it at the end of the day

What's a V9

P1 has the STi V5 engine in it so presumably is the older car. Just for that reason I'd go for the other one as generally each generation of Scoob was better (apart from current one of course!).

JDM cars are generally better than the UK ones year for year - more toys, more power, easily tuned up etc. I'm biased though as used to own a Spec C

TX.

Tough choice, 2 doors do hold better value. But the V9 is a lot more refined and practical. But if practicality and refinement are what your after.....buy a volvo estate, lol. I bought a P1 and love that 2 door shape, but more so the drive and feeling you get with the P1, much like the BMW E30 M3, E46 M3 is a better car, but theres still something about the E30 that makes it special.

Sorry to say but if it were my money i'd go for the V9 STi too.

The P1 is getting too old in my view now, thats not to say that its not a brilliant car, cos it is, but there 10 years old now and things are going to start to go wrong with them no matter how well they have been looked after!

The V9 STi is obviously alot newer car which is more refined, built better, handle better, and hopefully should be more reliable.

if you got v5 type R you get the two doors for less and therefor enuf budget to speed it up :-)
In my opinion i love the classics!, the newer cars are to refined andnot agile enuf.

Did a sprint day with our local club a couple of weeks ago and out of the top 3 cars, 2nd and 3rd were newage STis and the fastest on the day was a Stripped RA. So just goes to show how well the newage STis handle. This included, P1s, Classic UK Turbos, and a M3 CSL.

Always liked the P1 but prefer the look of the newage.

There is a little bit of a difference between a UK STI, a P1 and a JDM twin scroll car, top of the pile is that JDM twin scroll car, its just a more precise car overall, handles better, drives better, faster, stops better, well it just does everything better
P1 is lovely new age JDM twin scroll is a million miles ahead

Tony I think you get a bit carried away with the whole JDM Vs UK thing. Maybe back in 2001 there was a big difference but not now. I'd agree with Spec C Vs UK STi but not JDM STi Vs UK STi.

Horses for course

There are still plenty of differences between the 2 cars, mainly mechanically how many UK cars do you see with a quick rack steering sticker on? none have it fitted (except the 22B type UK), grooved nitrated crank? twin scroll turbo? all those little bits add up, the JDM cars are more advanced than their UK counterpart(s) and there are not that many differences between the Spec C and a standard JDM STI tbh with you, most of the mechanicals are the same, different cooling system on the Spec C and subframe (plus the oil coolers) and pre 05 cars didnt have the geometry setup, but that was a BIG step over a UK car at the time (DCCD/quick rack/twin scroll engine etc).

Still as you say, horses for courses

Its a 2005 car, price could be a little lower, try knocking him/her down a grand, ask about service history, same as the classics, but looks good to me
