It should pass if it's hot enough. I just have the original centre cat with an H&S decat downpipe on my RB5 that's done mega miles and it passed last night (which was a relief!)

once hot what does a cat do? I thought most cars would pass once hot but fail due to a visual check?

The cat has to be HOT to work properly, as long as it passes the emmisions test, they should have no need to do any visual check, and how would they really know that what they're looking at isn't standard....... all they care about are the emmisions...... and leaks,

Just alittle tip but for the mot they only need to only gas test 1 in 3 cars!

Not if you live in Northern Ireland.
We have proper MOT testers here

Seiously though, we have official mot centres ran by the government.
They test everything.

I have a complete decat system including the up pipe. Replaced just the downpipe with an OEM downpipe and cat and the car passed today.
