how many cats for MOT?
just to ask if i fitted a de-cat downpipe on my 97 uk turbo but left the cat in the centre section would this pass an mot or do you need both cats? thanks

It should pass if it's hot enough. I just have the original centre cat with an H&S decat downpipe on my RB5 that's done mega miles and it passed last night (which was a relief!)

The cat has to be HOT to work properly, as long as it passes the emmisions test, they should have no need to do any visual check, and how would they really know that what they're looking at isn't standard....... all they care about are the emmisions...... and leaks,

My Type R failed with just the downpipe cat although i dont think it was hot enough as the station was only down the road, but it went through ok with 2 cats,My Spec C on the other hand passed with just the downpipe cat but i did take the time to warm it up
