How much oil use on 2.5 sti newage.
As above really had a 2.0 before and just moved to 2.5 but it seems to me to use more oil than the other but it was a few years back so cant remember how often i put it in that. The cars has a low mileage of 9000 miles and its used 0.5 litre in 400 miles of mixed driving i.e some motorway, some town and the odd thrash, also the other niggle is a bit of smoke on start up in the morning then runs clear. The cars got a good years warranty left so i asked my dealer to take a look which they did and ran some test and said the engine seemed fine and the pistons were showing no problems under subaru guidelines whatever that means so just to keep a eye on it.But how worried should i be do i need more advise from more experienced specialists or forget it and just enjoy. The car drives like a dream just a little concerned, thanks for any advise.

Is it still doing it then mate? I'll go check mine a little later and let you know when the level is. It went in for the service 1000 miles ago so it should tell you as much as I haven't checked it.

So in other words i'm no better of now because that is the same conflicting answers i'm
getting elsewhere,so where do i go from here.
A/change the oil to something different where its only just been serviced.
B/try get my money back from the main dealer which i dont really want to.
C/try to get the dealer nearer to home to look at it again where he seems to think its normal and didn't seem that keen and thats 2 dealers now who's not sounded two concerned.
D/trade the car in and pass the book onto someone else which i dont know where i would go from here as i cant see any further than a scooby for me.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh my head hurts.

The only thing I would suggest, Is keep an eye on the oil try and keep a record of how much its using per say 1000 miles.
Like I said in my post above 3000 miles mine used 1ltr. which to me wasnt acceptable. now when it had the original oil in from factory it never used a drop to me this suggests the oil the dealer was using is Crap, so after 3000miles I changed it to millers cfs & up to press it hasnt used a drop. I Change my oil every 3000 miles anyhow.

I've had the RB 2 years now & it gets serviced every 5k miles/6 months. Its not used a drop of oil between the service times.
Have to say that my previous MY01 WRX & MY05 STi Type UK, were the same.
I'd get a second opinion if I were you.
