Default Heat management

Hi i am looking at getting a RCM manifold and up pipe coated, i bought these parts off a member and they are in perfect condition so thought i would have them properly sorted out. The plan is to take the car to 500bhp and keep it as a weekend 2nd car so long term durability is important which rules out rapping them ??? i emailed zircotec for a price and this is what i received

“Zircotec coatings
Regarding pricing; the cost to coat an Impreza manifold manifold is £384 for Performance White or £ 442 for any from our Performance Colours range. The up-pipe will depend upon size; e.g. a 3" diameter is £45 per foot length for White or £51.75/ft for Colour. Prices exclude shipping and VAT. “

Seems a little expensive, any advice from other people would be great

There was thread about this about 10 days ago, someone had theirs done in a dark colour and someone had theirs white...... They also banded about a few prices. I wonder if it was in the gallery section ?

Im having my turbo housing & new downpipe done at some point too but the turbo housing is going to zircotec this time. just to see what theyre like.

yeah, im not so sure myself fella!

will be a few months before it all gets tested but im happy with it right about now & for what i paid.

Harvey said there wasnt THAT much difference in wrapped & coating buttt.id rather coat...i dont want to be re-wrapping stuff every few months once its frayed. my mates s15 manifold/down pipe is going to be on its 3rd wrap in about 7 months this weekend.

Harvey wrapped my old headers with DEI stuff about 5 years ago..I sold them on and have had no mention of any problems.

I also had my RCM headers and Downpipe wrapped by the RCM crew about 3 years ago and they still look like new. OK I only do about 4k miles a year (two car family) but thats quite a long time

thanks for that mate, yep i only do around 5k max when the sun shines so maybe i will go with rap to start with, not sure if i want to spend £500 on 2nd hand parts, i read that thermal coating does not stick as well to parts that have been used ? any one have thouhts on that

thanks guys

Yeah thats right F1, gonna be easier to coat a new turbo housing compared to a rusty one, right? it would adhere to it better too.
