Default Why wont it start ?

Just fitted a new engine.

i checked all the pipes, it has oil, coolant and everything .

I was told to take the crank sensor off, then turn it over.

Plugged it back in, then started it, but nothing,

I had one or two "pops" where the engine sounded like it was going to fire up, but then didnt and just kept ticking over. Sounding more like it was gonna die as i kept the key turned..

What am i doing wrong ?

It's easy to mix up the injector connectors, and the coils, worth checking.

A decent battery charger should tell you how much juice is in it, how long has it been stood?

Ive just had to change my battery today its only been stood a week but its dead.

Is the engine in time? i.e belt on correct?

you will hear it when you turn the key but not turn it over - it'll buzz a bit...

You'll here it prime for 2 seconds when the ignition's turned on. The coil connectors are black back, grey front. The injectors are light grey front, dark grey back.
If it's turning over, it won't be the battery.

Other things to check are the connector on top of the engine, where the engine and box join. Check the connectors are good next to the battery. Also, check the earths are good, i had a bad earth when re-fitting my inlet after paint, and it wouldn't start. It was the one on the top of the inlet, passenger side.

well i wired both earths to the same point. The one form inlet and the main engine earth. Is that wrong ?

As said, the spark wires were already on, i just plugged them in. I didnt see a difference between the grey injector wires.. Would that make a big difference.

Yes it buzzes, when i turn the ignition. It sounds like it wants to go, but then doesnt.

But you were kinda right!
If the injector connectors are the wrong way round, it'll be suplying fuel at the wrong times, which is bad!

Just had a look and they are all on the right way round. Will take another look in the morning, but they all looked fine.

I hear what you say about the battery and if its ticking over it should be fine. But what if there isnt enough juice just to give it that little extra. Could still be the battery.
I really cant see what else i have done wrong

Get some jump leads on it or charge it up over night then you can rule that out too then if no joy my battery was turning ther engine but just didnt have enough to fire her up so fitted another battery today and fired up first time

well im hoping it is as simple as there isnt enough juice to fire it into action.

Might get a new battery 2moro and find out. I can rule that one out then if it still doesnt fire up

Id try jump leads on yours first or stick it in 2nd and bump it before forking out on a new battery.

I just ran a self diagnosis test on it, and it came back with no faults.

Have you tried bump starting it fella?

I ask as my starter motor went on me one day, had similar symptoms as yourself. Then the battery was on the way out also. Now both are replaced I very rarely get trouble starting up (unless it's damp and misty - a 205 trait).
