What car next, 08/09 STI?
Right, well nothing is happening immediatly but am starting to think what to get next, have a few ideas but just cannot decide between the options 3 and 4, any opinions welcomed!!!
2001'ish 996 - love these but just think the impracticality side will make it a non starter, not much room for my daughter and no real luggage space, but for the money these are at the moment at least I could get it out of my system.
2006 RS4 Saloon - again one of my dream cars, could prob just stretch to one of these but what are the running costs like, I'm guessing with a V8 and that sort of power the purchase cost is just the start of large bills for services etc!
Now more seriously
08/09 STI - Really starting to come round to these and I reckon in a few months I'd be able to grab a second hand one for 18/19k, 4 doors and a boot make it a real winner as far as the family goes. Is it worth paying out more for the 330 or shall I wait for a special edition to come out, JDM, options are endless and certainly welcome an ideas.
Focus RS - now since day one I've wanted one of these, now I'm not going to buy brand new at 25k + options so may wait and get one second hand, on the downside its only 2 door so not as practical as the STI but I really love the look and sort of want something different, no Cosworth badge and the lack of 4WD also put me off slightly.
What to do I just don't know which route to pursue, obviously on a Subaru forum I know many will say go for the STI but do I have a change. The car will be kept for 3 years minimum so not a short term purchase and really don't want to spend over 25k, upto 20 ideally!!
Come on and give me some advice, I'm so confused!
Cheers

Was in the same position last year, test drove a noble which i liked but the wife did not, test drove 996 c4 conv which both me and the wife loved but was a few years old.And last but not least 2008 sti which we both liked and bought picked up new march last year, after a few problems still love the car.
Drive all and that should help you make your mind up.

I was the same as you Arron, I wanted my next car to be 911 (996/997) after my Cayman, but the patter of tiny feet put pay to that and I found myself looking at RS4's and STI's (the RS was not even taked about back then)
The RS4 (avant I was looking at) were an additional £10k for a 2006 model, with expensive running costs (chew oil) and servicing.
I took the STI out and immediatly reconised the Impreza feel and performance..and was won over all over again..

Cheers guys, at least I'm not the only one who cannot decide, seems we all have been looking at very similar cars.
Scooby L, yes the extra 10k for the RS4 was one of my main issues with it, I'd be adding a lot of extra cash for something the same age as my current car, and I always like to get something a little newer.
The STI is certainly one of my best options, test drove one when they first came out and thought it was ok but was not convinced, perhaps I should take another better spec'd for a test drive back to back with the RS when it eventually arrives at my dealers.
As I say this is no immedaiate purchase so can ponder for a while longer and by the time I'm ready maybe the 330's have dropped a bit or perhaps a special edition may be released by either mark!
Thanks for you opinions,
Arron

Mrs would not let me drive a BMW, not too kean on them to say the least.
Foz STI, had it been 3 years ago before the new shape Foz came out it would have been a contender, now really like but think they look a bit
dated, however should a 2009 come out at the right price then maybe.
No Rs's at the mo, think release date has been pushed back to May due to production line issues.
Now that Foz idea has really got me thinking, perhaps their is an 09 STI in the land of the rising Sun?

I have the same dilemma, I got a hawkeye Impreza wagon and now with the kid/dog wagon out of the way I think I am going for a 996 (maybe).
Its a great time to get a Porsche and although there are better cars for better prices out there the feeling you get when you arrive somewhere in a Porsche is far greater than almost any other car.
In the future I will go for an MY08/09 330 scoob but for the meantime I think the Porsche is the car to get.

The new Forester is crap in handling compared with the old one. The previous one used to be the reference (and I am only talking about the 2.5XT one not Sti) but now the reference in teh category is the VW Tiguan. Although the Porsche may be nice I believe a M3 is easier to drive and find the limits.
