Guys

Just bought and had fitted one of the new Blitz ID Performance meters.
Its all wired in and working a treat, but, i need to know the weight of my vehicle.

So, does anybody know the weight of a V5 Type R, unladen?
Once i have fed this info into the unit it`ll show me bhp in chart form, very much like the dyno readouts you get, cool eh!

Cheers

Paul (Oh, and yes i know its early)

Hi Paul

I don't know if this is any help but I weighed my UK MY98 on the weighbridge at work and it was 1290KG,that was with half a tank of fuel and about 30 kg of ICE.

Andy

PS just remembered you've got an ally bonnet and wishbones so that should save you about 200 KGs

Question

Out of interest, does anyone know how much the steel and aluminium bonnets weigh? I've always wondered how much of a difference it makes.

type error - should ay i thought 1100kg was more probable which takes intoaccount windup windows, less sound deadening etc

It will be around 1260Kg, and don't forget to add in your weight too

Dave.

"You and your subaru impreza turbo" by hanes states:

Impreza WRX STi Type R (Jan 1997 - Aug 1997) 1230kg.

The 22b (which also happens to be a type R) is 1270kg.

Those should be dry weight. So you need to factor in diff gearbox and engine oil, as well as fuel, and any other weight you have in it. Keep in mind that great weight saving must have happened via new exhausts (espeically if you ditched the cats) and new alloys. All in all, I think you'd get away fairly accurately with a 1300kg estimation.

But 1100 kg? no way. The Civic Type-R weighs more than that! I doubt theres any way of managing to make a STi less than 1200. Theres 3 diffs, an intercooler and transmission-tunnel. Thats a load of weight ya know. Even the extremely hard-core Spec C is listed at 1300, and thats with no aircon, thinner glass manual windows etc.
