Dilema
#1
I've got a bit of a dilema, I got a Red Letter day to use and i have narrowed it down to two choices:
Driving a Race prep'd E-Type OR
Driving an Elise
both at Donnington
One minute I think E-Type coz I'll probably never get another chance to drive one, then I think Elise coz it'll probably be quicker and I would be paranoid about stuffing the jag.
HELP
Spell checker's not working by the way

E-Types were not known for their reliability, but for looks and all round fun factor i'd drive one just think of the classic handling, the looks of envy people will give you when you drive past in such a great car, or drive the elise and get "oh theres another one of them!"
You know you want to drive the E-type!!!

E type for me anyday.
Its a legend, plus as you say not something your likely to get the chance of again. Plus if its race prepped I doubt it would be that much slower, and its bound to be a bit more involving to push hard!

p.s. lucky git

My choice would definitely be the Elise.
The E-type was excellent in its day, but that was some 30 years ago, and things have moved on a bit since then! OK, so being race-prepared might have overcome some of the shortcomings, but I still think it's a "no contest". Go for the Elise.

E-type.
No contest.
You'll enjoy the noise, the clunky-slow gearchange (probably a moss-box), the torque, the smell...Fantastic.
You can get a go in an Elise anytime, matey!

E-type for definitely..
The race prepped ones go extremely well, and it will be a far more demanding car to drive properly. I think if you tame it, you would get far more satisfaction from the day!!

Reminds me of the ride I got in a Jaguar C-type...
Castle Coombe circuit. Classic Action Day. There I am sat in a dinky little seat with no belts , doing 130mph+ chasing a Cobra 427 listening to the straight-six howl and breathing in all the oily fumes from the Cobra.

I don't know! This enthusiasm for the old E-type is quite touching, but IMHO somewhat misplaced.
If you are into cars that are demanding to drive then you'd be better off looking for something like an Austin Healey 100 or 3000, or if you really want a handful, try an old TR3 or 3A!
A racing E-type might be somewhat different, but I don't think you would be particularly inspired by a standard one.
