Default Where do I start??

Right all been well I pick up my First sti tomorrow. Its a 2004 standard running 265bhp I belevie. I would like a know what to mod first , I'm not bothered about running 400bhp , but I would like to hear a good exhaust note would a back box do this alone? Dump valve ? Around 300bhp would be great , guess I will need to upgrade the fuel pump , exhaust and a remap! Advise would be great!

Hey Ben

Personally id look at uprated fuel pump, sports cat downpipe and after market back box. Also stick in a k&n panel filter. Can also look to a de-resonated centre pipe for bit more burble.

Also whiteline/perrin rear ARB and alloy droplinks for suspenion upgrades.

That should free up a few ponies and make it handle a lot better.

Then look at remap which should be good for around 340-350bhp with above

I have to admit that I thought a WRX STI of that era was pushing 300 standard? Perhaps I am wrong though.

Yes, about 265 for a non-PPP (i.e standard) STI.

Yes, a different back-box will change the sound. Take a look around the For Sale section to see what people are getting rid of. You can have my Firestorm for £30 if you can collect from Cambridgeshire...

Putting a noisy dump valve on will just result in people laughing at you.

Yes, to get 300bhp really just needs fuel pump and remap. The PPP gives 305 and replaces one of the cats with a straight-through, but the new map is pretty conservative and 300 with the exhaust left as is should be possible. Obviously changing the back-box alone will do nothing to performance. Nor will it change what the remap can do.

Thanks, I will book her in for a 30k service 1st and slap a nice back box on for now. Save up and carry out the above mods.

Thanks

With a re-map and those bits you should manage 330 bhp !!

Good Luck !
