quick help. Adjustable exhaust. which way to turn?

Just put an exhaust on and it seems adjustable in the rear muffler.

Without waking the neighbours. which way you rekon to make it quieter? Sticking my hand up the end, tighten or loosen. only turns quarter a turn.

One position is wide open, the other is closed, and that will be quieter...

yeah gave in an changed it with the engine running

turn out anti clockwise makes it quieter
