Had a play with an S3 on the way to work, very surprised at the acceleration of these - although off the mark I was quicker, once rolling had to nearly redline the Scoob to stay level with it..

I thought they were just a Golf GTi in a nice frock but after looking it up they're 261 BHP!

i had a play with one last week too,new shape one but was also very surprised how quick it was.....i beat it but was expecting to obliterate it to be honest.

At the end of a mile long stretch i was only 75 yards or so in front of him!!!

lol yes for a start they generally put out BHP / torque than Audi state, mant RR roads have shown this - the haldex 4wd has less mechanical drag and a little more efficient than the Subaru 4wd.
Very easy to tune - stage 1 revo show 300bhp + add sports decat exhaust and fuel pump and an get silly but safe power out of its TFSI engine.

Do miss the noise of my Scoob though - Audi 4 pot sounds dull in comparision

I have been chased by a few of these in my time in the P1 but rarely flutter an eyelid at them....IMO they are all driven by *****.....they will try get a rise out of anybody driving nice cars to try and prove their worth and to justify spending the cash on them

The couple of times I have been really bothered by them I have left them for dead.

A mate at work has one. Pretty quick, although I think they look and sound boring. I heard they are a boring drive too (never driven one myself)

They also do an A3 with a new 3.2v6 4x4 pushing 300ps as i found out when he was not disapering behind me . He couldn't take me though and thats in my wagon

Never been or had a go against a new Audi S3, but my mate has a MY2000 Audi S3 with 210bhp and to be honest I was very dissopointed when I first went in it, It didnt seem to pull at all, I had to do the polite thing and say "That was quick, you got yourself a nice car there" which to be honest I was lying!!!


But like any Turbo car, you spend some money on tuning bits, im guessing you can make them quick.

in standard form i dont think there that quick? older ones from say 1999-2002 were 210 bhp and the newer ones 2002-?? were 225 bhp. However just a simple remap on the 225 spec'ed on sees around 260 bhp.
They are kind of tubby as well for a small hatchback as they weigh 1455 kg

I've seen a very rapid S3 in silver down the M3 a couple of times. It turns off at Basingstoke junction. Had a private plate ending AMD.

I didn't have a play both times as I had the family in the car but it was pushing out some good power but the torque of it supprised me. Mine doesn't hang about on the motorway but this things scortched past me.
