Slow to turn over....

Slow to turn over....
Hoping someone can give me some advice please.
I bought my first Impreza a couple of weeks ago (not new, 99 plate) and the only concern I've got with it is when I go to start it up. 90% of the time, it takes a few seconds, but someone told me this is normal with Subaru's. However, 3 times now, it's taken quite a few seconds and I've actually thought it wasn't going to start at all. It sounds like when a battery is about to conk out in a car when it's taking ages to start and then finally the car just turns over and doesn't start at all. Fingers crossed, touch wood and all that, it's not failed to start yet, just sounded like it was almost going to let me down.
I've checked under the bonnet and the battery has got this traffic light system on it and the light on it is showing green, saying there's no problem with the battery, so does anyone have any ideas what else it could be, or is it really normal as I was told?
Thanks very much.

go to a KWIK-FIT type place and get them to check yer battery
(though saying that I think they ALWAYS say yer battery's kernackered just for the sales (simliar to that issue with the AA doing it a few years ago, I guess))

usually if the bat is showing green in the window it should! be ok
take it to a garage or a mechanic if u know one and ask them last time i had an impreza in turning over slowly it was the aircon pump that was siezed making the engine very difficult for the starter to move the flywheel
to check this remove belt and then try turning it over

I've just whacked a new battery in there (had a brand new one, same size and amps not being used) so am going to see what happens in the morning, as it's first thing in the morning that it sounds like it's not going to start. Fingers crossed...

Thanks for that. I'll write that down and ask my bro-in law if he'll take me to visit his mechanic friend and mention this to him if it's still starting slowly in the morning.
Also a Jaime (but the girls way of spelling it !)

Dont you have to let the fuel pump prime for a few seconds first? Turn the key to position II, wait for the fuel pump to stop whirring then turn the engine over.
Maybe completely wrong about this though.
