Sorry, but if you unplug any sensor/actuator on a modern(ish) car's EFi system, it will log a fault code if the ignition is switched on with the sensor/actuator still disconnected.
Sensors that aren't critical to the engine operation and emissions (the MAF being one of them) will flag up a check engine light. And also **** up the car's fueling as it forces it to guesse the sensor reading.
Logged fault codes that no longer re-occur usually self clear after approx 7 cold starts/warm ups (IIRC).
