Must've been one hell of a rocker leak, was it on the turbo side because I can't imagine anywhere on the passenger side hot enough to ignite the oil.

BTW, there's a GB on fire extinguishers at the moment, I'm getting a new one as there seems to be a spate of imprezas catching fire at the moment - KILL8R's went up at the last MSOC meet and again was saved by someone elses fire extinguisher.

Like RON says, get your Bro a beer, it could have been a lot worse!!!!

Lol - i did have a 6 litre foam extinguisher strapped in the boot just in case....Courtesy of the CHUBB fire inspector hehe.

You were very lucky fella but i would imagine it was mainly down to a build up of oil as you hasn't started it....where majority of people who have leaking rocker gaskets tend to drive these on a daily basis and tend to burn the oil off.

Never knew KILL8R's car caught fire though....will PM him.

The ones you buy can be re-filled though: Im sure Ive said that before. Did I also suggest wrapping 5mm of insulation tape around the pin? Two or tree turns will be enough to stop the pin from ever dropping out, but youll easily be able to pull it out if need be. Next time (!) Id suggest getting a 2 litre AFFF extinguisher (and maybe some cheap kevlar gloves and a small pry bar: with these you should be able to open your bonnet to actually get to the fire) because itll be far more effective if you need it.

Just as messy if you discharge it in your cabin though.....
