mint v2 sti 555 or mint uk turbo 2000??
looking at one or the other, have seen 2 mint examples of each, the sti is more money but obviously better spec, is the 555 v2 based on the sti or the ra? it has a roof vent, does it have the really low ratio box like the ra or standard sti box?? which one would u choose? insurance not a factor as got similar quotes for both through specialists. cheers. spec of the sti 555 v2 would be appreciated. thanks.

Also has I/C water spray, no ABS, Speedline wheels.
Contrary to popular opinion the 555 is not an RA (ie. lightweight) and doesn't come with a numbered plaque. It has the standard STI gearbox, which has shorter ratios than UK models though not as short as the Type-R.

I like the fact that it wraps around into the doors, looks more ergonomic than later version.
I really enjoy the slightly shorter gearing, makes everything more urgent.
The I/C water spray is ok but lasts but a few squirts and makes little difference in the scheme of things. Better to up rate the radiator/thermostat and FMIC, they really are the business.
Other cost would be injectors which would be 380's rather than 440's on the later cars. Worth changing these for some later STi 440's as the flow and type of flow is much improved. Also later 440's can be further improved by specialists to flow at a higher rating and fit very easily with a simple adapter.
Boost can be raised in the mid range etc by wiring up a later map sensor £35 I paid for mine from a 99 STi.
But the best bit is the parts availability is enormous and cheap. You can spend as little or as much as you like but theres always someone breaking a classic.
Should note the brakes are appalling and I bought Brembos all round for mine, and I don't miss the ABS.
