Toughie, always nice to get a new car, but is it going to perform as well as the one you've got? Or are you going to have to spend 3/4k and then another 1-2k modding it? Can't help you with the 'stress' issue as I'm not a 'modder'

Although I'm a classic fan I think you should go newer mate, not a blob though, try getting a really nice bug or stretch the budget if you can to a hawkeye.

If u have spent that much on it and in fact if you like your car then spend a little on it and keep it. I was in your position and my clutch has gone so in with a high performance clutch and flywheel and treated myslef to a 6 speed box, it's getting done next week and I think within the next few months a 2.5 forge build will me on the way

mines a facelift classic and i love the look of it, only thing that worries me is that if i remap i might smash the engine because its done 120k

get the 3/4K and spend it all on your classic.
mines done 204K Km and runs sweet altho pretty un-molested (so far).
its lighter than the newer ones so wont need as much power to keep up, or btter still overtake them

This is an easy one to answer for me.
I would sell your current classic and buy one that has been modded already.
Have you seen what can be had for £6-7k ?
You could go for an import STI/type R classic with a rebuild and a few extra goodies and have an awesome car or even a P1 that has been rebuilt.
There are some absolute fantastic low mileage classics to be had and lets face it......they are the best looking Imprezas.
