Default Advice on buying a Scooby

After toying with all sorts of choices (P1, 2005 Sti, 2006/7 STi, or M3) I've pretty much decided on the 2006/7 Scooby. I've found one on an 06 plate, with PPP. Took it for a test drive today, and was very impressed. I don't know how much was to do with the 2.5l, and how much was to do with the PPP but it felt quite a bit more lively than my old 2004 STi without PPP. Obviously it had more torque.

My dilemma is this though. This car was Scooby blue, with Gold wheels, the same as my last one, and my fiancee is bugging me to go for black ;-) Now I've always been a purist and thought if you're gonna have an STi, it has to be the factory colours, ie Blue with gold wheels, BUT it does look really really nice in black. I know ultimatley the decision is mine but I wondered what other folk thought. The other thing is, there's one available in blue, but not in black (if I want to buy from a main dealer), so it'd be a matter of waiting to see IF a black one becomes available.

Finally I was wondering if anyone knows the performance figures of the 2.5l STi with the PPP fitted? I can find it without the PPP, but not with. Would I be right in thinking that the figures would be exactly the same as the RB320 (which I can find)?

Cheers, Toby

The car on that first link looks awesome. Unfortunatley I'm not a 'modder', as worry about insurance, warranty and selling on :-/

I can comment on the colour and imo I would opt for Black all the way.
When a Black Impreza is polished and waxed it looks magnificent with a much more harder and aggressice look than the Blue.

I have to opt for black too, or white. A white hawkeye is also as pleasing. There's just something about the blue, everyone expects it. I spent ages trying to find a black one and ended paying a premium because there were none available back then, it was worth it. As bob says, when it's waxed it is beautiful.

that ggr black one looks a cracking buy for someone,
cheaper tax aswell, I think it'll make a difference come resell time

snerkler, all the modding has been done, it will be out of warranty soon, insurance is easy to sort out, and selling on would be easier than a standard one imho

Gone for the blue in the end, too impatient to wait to see if black becomes available Besides, if Black is selling so quickly the price will probably be a touch higher and I've stretched myself as it is ;-)

Congrats on the new purchase then mate. I was like you when looking for my 06 sti. I wanted one in white as hawkeyes look awesome in that colour but i couldn't bare the wait and settled on a crystal grey one.

Cheers
Melly
