Default WHAT WOULD YOU GO FOR

right thinking of dropping the p1 in and in total i have around 15-18k budget and am a little lost on what to go for next. i have been eyeing up a

Litchfield type 25 06 (hawk)
litchfield type 20/25 05 (blob)
(dare i say) a EVO MR FQ340
Spec C (05)
JDM STI (05)

obvioiusly the money saved from the jdm sti could be spent on the car with more over time. looking for a bit of a track wepon and fast road car and always loved the litchfield cars. just in some ways not to sure of they are worth the etc money where a slightly tuned jdm or spec c may do what i need it to

any pointers?
what would you get?
anyone driven and can compare the models?

I would consider leaving the marque, call it a break or a holiday or whatever.
Monitor the prices for a while and then, if you really must, pitch back in at a later date.

A Spec C would do the job.

Litchfield type 25 06 (hawk)

All the better if it's in A-Line guise.

I had a Spec C Hawk and it was just superb, couldn,t fault the car, infact probably one of, if not the best out-the box cars i,ve owned, that,d be my choice.

Only reason i sold it and bought my V3 TYPE-R was is was money just sat in the garage not being used..

So i sold it for 16k and bought this and banked 10.5k...

I,d hold fire maybe a while, DON,T panic buy so to speak, climate is dreadful at the moment, having said that, it,s good for the buyer too..

I don't think you would get anywhere near a hawkeye T25 on your budget, but you should be able to pick up a decent MY05 version.

I drove a Spec C against a T25 a few years back and I think I made the right decision

depends how hardcore you wanna go, 18k on an early classic sti type ra would give you a car that would pap all over any of those cars listed, but its much less refined.

could i ask mate, what made the difference and for what reasons you went for the type25?
also what year soec c was it as i would assume the later hawk spec c would be better than the blob spec c if that makes sense

pete how does the hawk spec c compare to the older blob spec c?

do you know of any difference between them?

tidy i have had 5 classics now and fancy soemthign newer i did think of taking the p1 up to a high spec but with the money invested i did not think it would be worth it due to not getting the value back etc

and does anyone know what the difference are between the 05 spec c and a hawkeye spec c? is the hawkeye a much better car and worth the etc money?

regards

Stevie,

I,ve never driven a blob Spec C so can,t comment mate,
my Hawk as said was fantastic, the handling was to die for, i couldn,t believe it was factory standard set-up, lol.
Having said that the car i have now is running 350bhp/340+ft/lb and is a quicker car, obviously cus of weight differences and the 30odd bhp/ft/lb more than the Spec C Had.
I,m a classic shape guy though Stevie too, the newr cars are WAY ahead obviously with stronger transmission etc, but they,re missing something for me.

If i was you, if you can go and test drive one and see how you feel, you might hate it, you might love it, if it were me i think i,d throw some pennies into the P1, but i,ve always been daft., even at 40+ yrs of age...

hhmmm.
Id probably go for a t25.

although you could just get a spec c and with the few grand you would save over a t25 you could spend on mods.

Wouldn't rule out the evo either, this lad I know just bought an mr fq 340, he reckons just a remap will see almost 400 bhp.

This is one of the nicest Spec C's i have seen, i had a blobeye one and loved it(view my scooby).

This one has nearly all mods done to be awesome, you could get him to drop his price to your budget i reckon. if only i had the money and red is the best colour.

Subaru : 2006/06 Subaru STI Spec C 396 bhp

For me, the T25 just had so much torque, whereas the Spec C (we are talking December 2004, so it was a 2003 blobeye) was all about revs. Being a more mature driver I'm not bothered about high revs (I have never hit the rev limiter) but do appreciate a bit of low down grunt. There have been loads of times I have gone for 7th gear because you can still be accelerating so hard in 6th it feels like there must be another gear

As for the sensation of speed, you simply don't get the same feeling as a classic. My old STiIV felt manic compared to the T25, but the blob is so much more comfortable.

Go for a T25, you won't regret it

The one i posted up about has the Porche brake upgrade and stage 4 AST'S and suspension mods, also remapped etc.

What other differences between that and the T25 is there???
was it cosworth engine mods???

Had a look on Iains site, good engine upgrades but the Porche Brake kit is extra and i bet the waiting list to get it done is quite long as he would have to source a base car from japan for you etc.

Cannot fault any of your choices TBH and wish it was me in your shoes i am sure you will not be dissapointed whatever you decide, lol

cheers for your input mac

i was looking at getting a used t25 so there would be no wait other than waiting till one came up. thing is rather than modding a car i would it out of the box with nothing else to do and the spec c and t25 seem to be there already just th et25 has the edge with the cosworth build.

Agreed. Can you get them for £18k now? They were about £30k last time I looked.

I seriously doubt you will get a Hawkeye T25 for £18k, but you should be OK with a MY05. Only the Hawkeyes came with the Cosworth motor as standard, but I believe one or two had the conversion later.
