Won't work mate, I am having the same problem. You can't use a universal one because of the way the ECU inerprets the signal apparently. You can them a little cheaper here, but that's as cheap as it gets...

I e-mailed them the wire colours and they just need to know if it is UK spec or Import(I dont know if the colours/ or UK spec makes a difference)

I was always under the impression that this one was fine?
Universal 4-wire Zirconia Heated Oxygen Sensor :: Gendan Automotive Products
The ECU can only interpret the signal as a voltage ... there are no differing 'types' of voltages - just the numeric value .... is this another SN Myth that it somehow needs a 'special' part??
I am willing to agree - but I need hard evidence at what 'type' of signal the ECU is expecting!

The front 02 sensor is a pseudo wideband jobby and the newage ECU only likes the signals it produces and not any old replacement.
The rear lambda sensor just checks the efficiency of the CAT and throws CEL P0420 if it thinks the cat is below efficiency so cannot be substituted.

When I have asked people like just lambda and provided the subaru part number they come back stating that a universal one won't fit and that they can't get a replacement part.
Subaru4You (I think) quoted me about £360.

It's up to you and depends on how trusting you are. You can PM me your chassis number and I can run it through the EPC and get you a part number. Your call.
