I've got a green cotton panel filter on my spec.D and I wouldn't say it gives much, if any, increase in induction sound, you can however hear the recirculating dump valve working reasonably clearly inside the car. No idea about outside.

Hope you're enjoying your spec.D.

good filter, but you'll find it cheaper elsewhere

Lol!! It probably does, but maybe I'm just a bit used to it. Mind you, that said, I don't think anyone can really hear the radio properly in an STI..!!

I have one, didn't really make much difference to the induction sound by itself to be honest.

You can get them for ~£35 delivered, and regardless of the effect on performance it'll pay for itself in two services, especially if you do you're own servicing..

You do need to factor in anther £10 for the cleaning kit and then be careful you don't over oil it after cleaning, which should be done every 12k or so (I do it when it starts to look dirty)..

Mines been on the car from new 4yrs/40k ago and I've cleaned it twice iirc. Now due for another clean..

Still a worthwhile mod IMHO..

I use the STI panel filter, as an alternative choice, couldn't tell you if its any better or worse though, lasted me 20k
