My dad bought this type r, then decided to sell it.We were working in a showroom in Cheadle Staffs at the time.He bought it from a computer literate guy down south i think.Very nice car that one too, don't know about the condition of it now though.

*Cough* What?
The car belonged from an old mate of mine from days of yore called Darren Soothill, he bought it new, got old skool Scoobysport Leda C suspension fitted, along with the Brembo fully floating brake kit and a full H&S decat...if the old Dynomite Scoobies page still existed I could link you to the dyno run when it cracked 308 brake without a remap...and lots of Octane booster...
Anyway, it was a borrowed when SIDC were asked for an Impreza to run against Mark Shead's Escort cossie (a former Ahmed Byoo car) running considerably more power 450+ brake IIRC. Pete Croney (he of Scoobysport fame) as then president of SIDC put them on to Darren. The filming wasn't for Top Gear but a Clarkson video called 'Clarkson at Full Throttle'
Daren sent me many texts through the day telling me what was going on, and sent a me a few pics as well:
The funny thing is VBH had a broken toe that day and had to drive in open toed sandles...
This is what she did to a brand new set of Bridgestone S02's
The run against the Impreza came after a drag race between a group of tuned cosworths which Mark's car won, to go on and face the new kid on the block, by the lanky one driving it. On the day the reality was on the timed runs both cars posted identical times, then they drove each others cars, and posted identical times, there was bugger all in it...the Escort had the advantage ina straight line, the Impreza gaining through the corners...but as we all know, Clarkson can never loose
Last time I saw the car with Darren it was having it's second engine and third gearbox, it had been on a lot of track days with him...we lost touch after he moved back oop North, last I heard he had a R34 Skyline...

I forgot to mention that Darren told me that there was a professional driver on site for the day and it was he who posted the identical times in each car, not Clarkson and VBH, I believe the filming with them driving was somewhat 'stage managed' to show this on the video
