Default PPP or not?

Hello all

Will hopefully be making a decision on an Impreza soon as im learning a lot on here.
Im going for the Sti over the Wrx but would like to know what the ProDrive Pack consists of, is it worth it or should i just go for the Sti then maybe add a few sensible mods?

thanks

Rob

what year will it be mate,i think you would get better results with a full decat exhaust and remap for alot less money too rather than the ppp pack

prodrive

think its way over a grand could be wrong though

Well, i've got a budget of around 8-10k so wanna get the best for my money and i've seen some good 03/04 plates for around this.
Do you know what the PPP does to upgrade the bhp on the car?

cheers

Rob.
The Prodrive Performance Pack consists of an upgraded ECU (has to be sent to Prodrive) and fuel pump, and a Prodrive Backbox.

Power rises from 261bhp to 301bhp. The power/Torque improve the drivability. Turbo kicking in sooner - 2500rpm.

I'd recomend getting the Prodrive spring kit fitted to - Dealer should supply and fit for about £400. Improves the handling no end.

Also a usual upgrade, is fitting 18" alloys - Prodrive reccomended.

Many people don't bother with PPP, and get it tuned by one of the Subaru tuners around. They can usually get more reliable power/torque figures as they are mapped to the car itself rather than the PPP generic map.

Check out
TSL, Powerstation etc

Hope this helps.

I was told that the ECU is flashed by the dealer on later cars.

Never heard that. Mine (05 STI) had to be sent off.

Would make more sense for dealer to do it.

Very helpful replies there guys, thanks.
I need some other tips too, i assume they use fully synth oil, do many of you do your own basic servicing or religously dealer/garage only?

I always used my local main dealer for servicing. Finding a good dealer helps. SG Petch of Richmond have a great bunch of blokes in there. Did a couple things for me that they maybe shouldn't have.

Good dealers are hard to find though.

Get the garage to do it every 6 months. Keep those stamps up to date.

If you're not planning on modding the power anymore, then the PPP makes sense. It rarely achieves anything near the quoted figures though, with one RR i went to, the best they had ever seen was 290bhp, not the quoted 305bhp.

If you are planning power mods, i'd pay less for the STi without the PPP, then do the equivalent mods yourself. Costs less and achieves much more.
