Default Anyone know this Type R?

Just wondering if anyone knows this type r, I was thinking of having a bid based on what the seller has told me but thought it'd be worth asking on here. I've done a good search of the for sale section and can't find it on here for sale in the past.

Seems to be forever re-listed on ebay. Must be the 3rd time i've seen it be re-listed now over the last month or so.

Just look in the completed listings and you'll see.

Also: Doesn't mention about brakes or tyre condition, Seems to be a 3 year gap between servicing.

On the servicing front though I've really seen a type r or other import with any history at all, it's actually not a bad amount IMO for a car like this. I bet if you email all the type r's on ebay 90% will have no history at all.

Tyres and brakes would be the least of my worries to be honest, I'd be more concerned about the engine, box and clutch.

I've asked a good few questions but I do have my concerns! He says it idles 'funny' sometimes so could be the MAF, which in itself is a worry if it's been thrashed about.

Think i'd rather spend the little extra and get something running right and that has good brakes/tyres and obviously a good engine/box etc.

Also shouldn't they be sti lights?

Don't forget this has been re-listed numerous times and if he hasn't listed about the erratic idling what else hasn't he listed?

Looks good and went for a bargain price. But with 80k on the clock, I hope the buyer has the money to fix all the imminent issues/problems.

I won the auction so lets hope it's as described. I'd be more than chuffed to pay that for a grey V5 Type R.

On the sti's that got imported years ago a lot seem to change to UK lights, presumeably for the fog light. Some were imported new via someone like graham goode (?) and I've seen a few sti's imported new and they use the uk lights. This was imported in 2000, so can only assume back then the lights were changed. Part of the original sticker is on the boot so hopefully it's not been rear ended

I've had a few emails off to him and he says original paintwork and as long as it's described the money it's gone for seems pretty good.

Well good for you. Definately the best colour . Mine was imported from new, but it has the original lights with a fog light under the bumper.

I'd get it serviced by a specialist as soon as you get it - just for piece of mind. You got what looks like a great car for next to nothing so may as well spend a bit to make sure it remains in good shape.

HPi check came back ok, so that's a good start

Well, the lights can be changed and as long as it's not been badly damaged or something (it's not been written off) then I'll just keep an eye out for some STI rears. Who knows, could have had one smashed in a parking ding, could have just been fitted by the 1st owner.

The guy has been pretty good answering my emails and has given me all the right answers so as long as he's not been dishonest it should be fine.

I don't take any rubbish buying cars though and if he's tried to pull a fast one I'll not be taking the car, I know ebay say a contract but if it's not 'as described' I'll walk away.. I've done it before after giving the sellers a piece of my mind

did you "win" at £4600? seen cheaper, but it looks ok. I think id be taking a specialist along for a ride, well worth the £30 odd for them to have a good look.

He either loves it and is going for a long drive, or he's waiting for the RAC to turn up

home now..

Quite pleased for the dosh!

Idle problem to be investigated tomorrow (but suspect air leak) gay bailey dv to be binned (prob doesn't help) noisey rear wheel bearing but engine sounds ok. Also it's quite slow but will investigate with gauge and sort it all easily hopefully.

Had a new clutch 8k ago and nice folder full of receipts.

Good service and sort all probs and it'll be sweet.. I like it
